* Angern : In Angerns personal file at the Freiburg Archive is a note in which Dragutin Jarnjak, a soldier of Croat Infanterie Regiment 369

stated that Angern refused to surrender and that he was shot by the Russians. I interviewed Oberleutnant Dr. Franz Brendgen.

He was the last person of his division to see Angern alive. He was not sure Angern committed suicide. Angerns body was never found.

There are no witnesses to confirm that Angern committed suiced.

 

** Arndt probably died in an attempt to break out of the Stalingrad encirclement

which is confirmed by witnesses.
